What is Love?
Understanding
the Law of Unconditional Love.
What is love?
According to whom you ask, love can mean a variety of things to a
variety of people.
Yet, despite the
many definitions, we all know that
love is a feeling or an experience that we'll each yearn for while in
human form. Why?
Because
love is the essence of who we really are.
We have just
forgotten what it feels like to be loved and to give love freely.
Instead, we've become accustomed to conditional love-the love where
compassion, forgiveness and respect are withheld from not just others
but ourselves.
Both the love of
the self and the love of others are interdependent on each other. One
cannot TRULY love someone else until they've learned how to love
themselves, and one cannot TRULY love the self until they have been
unconditionally loved by someone else.
The foundation of
this interdependence is our higher source; a place where we all come
from. When we respect this truth, we respect ourselves and others. When
we lose our way, we separate ourselves from unconditional love and
invite fear and hate into our lives.
What
is unconditional love anyway?...
Unconditional
love holds no records of wrongs.
When one is
reminded of wrongs, love is absent. Unconditional love focuses on the
records of rights, not wrongs. Remind your loved ones of the good they
have done because they will forget. More than likely, they're already
keeping the records of wrongs in their own heads; they don't need to be
reminded. Teach them another way of looking at the past.
Love
regardless of the mistakes someone has made because according to the
law of present moment, "Time is an illusion. The only moment that
matters is the present."
Remember this...There
are no victims or survivors in the eyes of love."
Unconditional
love sets one free from expectation.
When I think of
"what is love," this is the one definition I'm drawn too. I thrive in
an environment where I can be who I am without the expectation to be
anything other than that. Pleasing another in order to keep peace
within the home, but secretly withholding happiness from oneself, is
not
unconditional love.
If you're looking
for freedom, you're looking for
an opportunity to live without expectation. Set yourself and your loved
ones free by giving the gift of love..and do this without expecting
anything in return. As a result, and as a spiritual law of giving,
you'll be so full of love that you'll wonder why you didn't do this
before.
Remember
this...Love
is
without conditions.
Unconditional
love is forgiving, compassionate, and friendly.
Holding resentment
(whether you realize it or not) is not forgiving. Forgiving, but not
forgetting, is also unloving...and it's not really forgiving either.
Viewing life from
another person's perspective can automatically bring
love and compassion to one's heart.
Unconditional love
understands the
challenges and uniqueness that accompanies a soul's path.
Remember
this...
Unconditional love sees the perfection in everything and focuses on the
lesson involved.
Unconditional
love is patient.
Most of us are
familiar with the Corinthians 13:4 verse in the Bible.."Love is
patient, love is kind. Love does not envy. Love does not demand its own
way." This is another great "what is love" definition.
Love enjoys the
process, the discovery, and the experience of the journey. When one can
be patient within every moment, the end result is magnified with
gratitude.
Remember
this...
Unconditional love is patient throughout the journey.
Unconditional
love is our true source of being.
Beneath the hatred,
evil and abuse there lies unconditional love. Silently it awaits your
decision to choose love, to choose your true source of being. You may
have forgotten this, but love will never forget you. It cannot.
Remember
this...
Unconditional love is always there, regardless. When you surrender will
to your higher self, love becomes effortless.
Unconditional
love chooses the wisest emotion and nothing less than that.
We'll each feel
anger, pain, resentment, fear, hatred, and jealousy at some point in
our lives. However, love embraces each emotion and chooses
the highest emotion-the emotion that creates peace, harmony and truth.
Love knows of a better way; it knows that negativity is a burden and
unnecessary.
Love is aware of
the consequences of choice and chooses
to focus on the choice that will heal.
Remember
this...Unconditional love is neither disrespectful nor degrading and
has no interest in entertaining negative assumptions, words or beliefs.
One
final note about "what is love"..One
will know when they're in the presence of love based on the way they
feel. If you feel good, you are feeling love. If you feel anything less
than that, love is absent.
