Very tough to be a good friend

Many people get true friend/friends very easily. It is always tough for me from my school days. I have the tendency to believe more the one who gets to stay with me for longer than the rest.

I love making friends, but I am very poor in assessing people. By placing the confidence on "not so good ones", I miss the good ones and make them not accept me as their close friend.

I have my fiance who is just amazing. He has a wonderful group of friends right from his school days until now. Everybody would say that he is a very nice guy and they feel lucky to have such a friend. I always try to maintain relationship like him, but not possible till now. Please help!
