We were four friends at dinner last night (females, over 60). Rue and I had discount coupons (buy one, get one) for the restaurant, so I offered to share mine with Babs, and Rue would use hers with her sister-in-law Vi. When we met, Rue said she'd forgotten hers.

At the end of the meal, I felt I had a quandary, to share with Babs because I'd offered/promised, or to use it with Rue because she was my first friend in this little group and because she would have had a coupon although she'd left it home.

I chose to stick with Babs, my original promise, and later apologized to Rue if I erred in etiquette. Rue was understanding, but I'd like your take on this.

thank you,
Tybee
