Tatiana's Child Abuse Story
| Tatiana from the United States writes:
My name is Tatiana. I am 15 and I am in the 9th grade. My dad is a drug dealer and my mom is a security guard. When we were little my mom was always at work, so my brothers and sisters took care of us. Sometimes we wouldn't eat for two-three days. In order for our stomachs to be feel full, we would drink a large amount of water. Now we live in Florida. Things are better but we still don't have much food and I do all types of drugs. My mom has an alcoholic boyfriend and they just had a baby. Life can't get any worse so my only choice is to move forward and learn from others mistakes. |
Tatiana,
Thank you for sharing your story. I hope that you will find new ways to cope with your feelings other than doing drugs.
Surround yourself with a supportive group of friends and invest your time and energy into something positive. I'm glad to hear that you are learning from other people's mistakes, but don't let your father's mistakes determine your future--which will be the case if you choose to continue using.
It sounds to me that you have a good relationship with your siblings and I hope that you'll each find support within each other, especially during these hard times.
Find outside resources to help you with your food situation. There are food stamps, food pantry's, and churches to help you in this time of need. Continue to reach out to others and you take care of yourself.
You are only 15 years old, so go out there and make life the best that you possibly can for yourself.
With Love,
Brandy Shirley, M.A.
