Self Improvement
Tip:
Accept
Your Flaws for What they Are!
A great self
improvement tip is..
"Learn
how to accept your flaws for what they are."
It's human nature
to
focus on the negative aspects about ourselves, yet it's also very
harmful to our mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
Having
imperfections
is what uniqueness is all about. I, for example, am missing a tooth and
have focused on this imperfection for years. Yet, I have started to
accept that my missing tooth is a part of who I am. Of course, I will
not hesitate to get this fixed when the time is right, but until then,
I am making the best of it.
I use to hide my
smile, but I have decided that it's not about what others think, it's
about what I think of myself. And if I am ashamed of this, how will I
be able to be my best self?
The same goes for
you! Stop focusing on your flaws and begin embracing them.
Many times we
believe that we will not be accepted by others because of our
imperfections. Yet, what we don't realize is, it's not our
imperfections that others aren't accepting, it's our attitude
about our flaws that pushes people away!
If you are
constantly calling yourself names such as "I am a loser" or "I am so
fat" or "I can't do anything right," others will lose their respect for
you just as you have lost respect for yourself.
The most important
self improvement tip is to learn how to respect yourself, flaws and
all! When you have mastered this technique, you will notice a huge
difference in your confidence and in your relationships.
If you need some tips on how to begin
accepting your flaws here are a few to remember..
- Never
call yourself names.
Refrain from
this as
much as possible. Although you may still feel it or think about your
imperfections, make a huge effort not to put yourself down out loud.
And before long, you will begin noticing that you will not mentally put
yourself down as well.
- Watch
those thoughts.
Thoughts are so
powerful! And I will continually discuss the importance of focusing on
your thoughts because it's such a beneficial skill for every area of
your life. As I mentioned above, make an attempt to never call yourself
names, mentally as well as verbally. Replace your dysfunctional
thoughts with positive thoughts. Although this is a difficult task, it
works if you continually practice it. It will not work if you don't
practice!
- Be
proud of your imperfections
Hey, why not
embrace
your imperfections as a gift from God. For all you know, your flaws may
be God's gift for you to do something great with. Use your
imperfections in a positive way instead of a negative way.
The sooner you
begin
loving yourself for who you are, flaws and all, the sooner you will
begin living a life full of confidence, self-respect, and unconditional
love for others.
So, a great self
improvement tip for you to remember is:
"Accept
Your Flaws for What they Are!"
