If someone is truly a friend do they just stop talking to you

My husband and I went to my friends for a football party, she also invited another women who is a bit eccentric at best.
My husband and I are in our 40's and have known my friend and her husband for about 4 years they are in their 60's.The new lady is in her 60's also, during the party she was constantly trying to get my husband to celebrate with her about the game jumping in his face for high fives and finally she hit him three times hard on the arm like a guy would. My husband told her pretty sternly 2 times, don't hit me Even though she was kidding the punches were pretty hard and took my husband by surprise at most.
My friend and I talk to each other pretty much every day but now she will not answer her phone or cell phone to talk to me. It has been a week I have called twice to apologize, and told her I care for her as a friend and would she please talk to me. It feels like someone punched me in the stomach. I thought she was a dear friend. Both her and the other lady have money, and I feel like maybe she has decided I am not good enough to hang around them. Was she ever my friend or did she just feel sorry for me. I deeply appreciate some input. Thanks Bev
