What is the
Definition of Family?
When I think of the
definition of family, I think of a place where you can fall when times
are tough.
I imagine a place
where you can explore
yourself
without any degrading remarks, set conditions or judgments.
In my eyes, family
is a place where you feel unconditionally loved; where you feel
grounded, confident and humble. It's a place where you are welcomed
with open arms regardless of any mistakes you've made.
Family is there to
cry
with you, laugh with you, and share your heartaches. Family lightens
your spirit and lifts the heavy burdens off your shoulders. It's a
place where you feel 100% authentic.
Being in an
unconditionally loving family is our natural way of inhabiting
together, yet throughout out time on this earth we have forgotten this
truth.
We have forgotten
what it's like to feel unconditionally loved;
to have forgiving arms wrapped around us regardless of the hurt we may
have caused that person.
Instead, we've
become accustomed to the "an eye for an eye" mentality. We punish our
loved ones by setting high expectations, making it impossible to be
pleased, and controlling them with our fearful/hateful emotions
(ignoring, yelling, name calling, revenge, etc.).
Today, I challenge
you to look at your own definition of family in a different light. If
you don't feel unconditionally loved in your family maybe it's time to
become that
person who changes your family system.
Step up to the
plate; remind
your family of what it feels like to truly love. Forgive them when
they've made mistakes.
Pick them up when
their on the ground. Love them
for God sake; really, truly love your family..and do this without
expectations.
Don't hold back.
Give your family what you desire and it will be given
back to
you 100 times over as the feeling of love overwhelms you.
When you've come to
live in a loving mindset, you'll be this way with everyone because
really, when it comes down to it, we are all just one big happy family.
Right!?
