Make Your Current Career Choice Work for You..
And Discover Your Passion While You're At It!
Your career choice is perfect for you at this time. It is preparing you for your "purpose" and "passion" that you have entered this world for. You are building needed skills, talents, and traits for that "dream" you're constantly thinking of. Look at your career and ask yourself, - "Where can this career lead me?"
- "What can I gain by being here?"
- "What skills can I develop?"
- "Are there parts of my job that stand out to me?"
- "What options could lead me to building a more fulfilling career?"
My advice is to accept what you have right now and grow from there. I'm not talking about settling for a career you don't like. I am talking about building a better career from where you are right now. I have done just that in my career. I love what I do and know that I have made a perfect career choice for myself. I am also the type of person that does not like settling for "okay." And I am someone who likes to feel fulfilled in every aspect of her life. How have I come to this place? By learning to appreciate what I have in my career and building on that, while disregarding the negative aspects. I believe the more I build on what I like, the less I will focus on the negatives. You can do the same! How? By developing an understanding of your values, wants, needs, interests, motivations, talents, and dislikes. This is an important step to appreciating your career choice and knowing how to build on where you are. If the only thing you know is that you don't like your job, then you'll continually find things to dislike about your career. On top of that, you'll stay emotionally, mentally, and spiritually unhappy, thus you'll always find yourself having trouble discovering your purpose. However, if you know what you value, dislike, want, need, crave, or are interested in, then you will start building on what you already have and begin creating your purpose, naturally! Ask yourself, - "What do I dislike about my job?"
- "What do I like about my job?"
- "What do I need from my job?"
- "Where do I want this career to lead me?"
- "What am I interested in? Does this job fit that description?"
- "If my job does not fit my interests, why am I here?"
These questions are a great way to understand your values, needs, wants, and goals so you can find the career that is right for you. If you are having difficulty answering these questions, the
