Anxiety Cures and Your Mental Well-Being

Aaahh...Anxiety! Yes, I know how you feel. You are probably looking for anxiety cures to help ease that intense feeling of fear and worry.

Well, I am here to help you!

Anxiety is a very common mental illness and according to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), there are approximately 40 million Americans who have struggled with anxiety at one time or another.

If you are one of the 40 million Americans who suffer from anxiety, check out these simple anxiety cures intended to help you cope with your intense and fearful feelings..

Easy Anxiety Cures

  • Pay attention to your thoughts.
  • The first thing you need to do to decrease your anxiety is pay attention to what you are thinking about. This is very easy, yet very complicated.

Our thoughts typically are automatic and difficult to understand. However, this is where anxiety typically comes from, which is why it's important to think about what you are thinking about!

The thoughts that you need to pay attention to are the negative, dysfunctional thoughts. Skysite.org provides an excellent resource for understanding what dysfunctional thoughts are.

  • Change your thoughts!
  • Once you have developed the ability to pay attention to your negative, dysfunctional thoughts, it's time to change your thoughts into more logical, rational, positive thinking. Soon, I will have an e-book dedicated more on how to do this.

  • Allow Yourself to Make Mistakes!
  • Allow imperfection into your life. Things do not have to be perfect.

  • Practice Patience!
  • "Patience is a virtue!" When one is feeling anxious, he or she is expecting things to be done in a perfect, expectant way. Allowing patience into your life gives yourself and others freedom to "just be;" this in and of itself can relieve a lot of anxiety.

  • Determination!
  • Keep Going! You will not be unsatisfied if you practice the skills I have taught you, but it is up to you to persevere.

  • Breathe!
  • Don't forget to watch your breath during your daily activities because it is easy to take shallow breaths when your mind is wrapped up in busy routines. Pay attention to whether or not you're taking shallow breaths or deep breaths.

The moment your body is tense, take a deep breath to help ease your anxiety and you will feel the difference!

  • Take a moment to yourself!
  • You need time to yourself every day. Otherwise, it's easy to get wrapped up in daily routine drama. This routine will catch up to you. So, pay attention to your body when it says "Slow Down" and take a minute to yourself. Self-hypnosis Self-Hypnosis is an excellent way to set time for yourself.

  • Faith
  • This one is major! Having faith in something means, "I am putting my trust into a treasured entity without having any doubts about it."

Anxiety is doubt and worry, so in that regard, anxiety feelings need to be counteracted with feelings of positivity, and faith is an excellent way to counteract negative, doubtful feelings.

  • Get Plenty of Sleep
  • For those who suffer from anxiety, sleep is a desire and a wish! Heck, it's even a struggle to just get the full 8 hours of sleep!

Yet, one of the best anxiety cures is a full night's rest! So, the best way to get a full night's rest is to relax your mind and body at least 1-2 hours before bedtime.

Do not do anything that is stressful before bedtime. Some things to try are: reading, taking a bath, turning the TV off, and getting all of your chores done early.
