Your Originality is Sexy..Relationship-with-Self June Newsletter

June 19, 2010

My Loving Tip for You...Honor Your Originality!

"We are so accustomed to disguise ourselves to others that in the end we become disguised to ourselves." Francois Duc de La Rochefoucauld

My husband says I'm stubborn, yet I consider myself independent and original. But, I've not always considered myself that way. Actually, I believe I've spent my entire adolescent and young adult life trying to conform into what everyone else thought I should be. I've always thought I had to be outgoing to be liked and that being shy was "not cool." Or I had to have perfect teeth, a loving family, and the latest trends to fit into society.

Now that I've become more comfortable with myself, I've learned to appreciate the fact that I'm naturally a shy person, that my teeth have personality, my family will never be perfect, and the latest trends will never define who I am. And I've learned that as you become wiser, you'll learn to follow your intuition, trusting that you'll be led into the direction of honor and integrity.

Additionally, you'll find that other people's opinions and perceptions are important, but when the night falls and you're lying in bed engrossed in your own personal thoughts and feelings, you'll know that once it comes down to it..your way of viewing the world is what crystallizes your uniqueness and originality, not someone else's opinion of you. And when you feel confident with your unique self, you'll make the world a better place!

So, when you're questioning whether or not you should be a certain way, ask yourself.. Will this decision respect my originality or will this be a conforming decision? Either way, it's your choice!

Once conform, once do what others do because they do it, and a kind of lethargy steals over all the finer senses of the soul. Michel de Montaigne

All my best,

"When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years." Mark Twain

"In 1900, if a father put a roof over his family's head, he was a success. Today, it takes a roof, deck, pool, and 4-car garage. And that's just the vacation home." www.indobase.com

"In 1900, fathers could count on children to join the family business. Today, fathers pray their kids will soon come home from college long enough to teach them how to work the computer and set the VCR." www.indobase.com

Recommended Resources: "Creating Balance in a World of Stress"

From the words of Susan Del Gatto..

"I know that almost every day you deal with stress. Why? Life is not about fighting battles it's about the joy of living your life to the fullest, finding and living your passion, and enjoying the people around you. You shouldn't give in to the inconveniences that are causing you stress but learn to control your thoughts and reactions to cast out the stress from your daily activities. You would be amazed to learn how much stress you place in your own life without even realizing it."

If you're interested in learning more about how to create balance in the world of stress, check out Susan Del Gatto's book called Creating Balance in a World of Stress." You can find her book, along with a package of gifts, at www.abc-stress.com/promotion.html
