Humor

I received these quotes from a co-worker of mine and I thought I would share them with everyone... I thought they were cute, in a funny sort of way!

"I'm not going to vacuum 'til Sears makes one you can ride on."---Roseanne Barr--

"When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila and salt and call me over!"---Anonymous --

Inspiration

These inspirational quotes are from Thomas Edison..

"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."

"Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration."

A Loving Tip--The Importance of Building Yourself Up!

So often I hear people putting themselves down. However, I rarely hear people building themselves up! In this month's "Loving Tip," I want to encourage others to start building themselves up!

Instead of putting yourself down today, I want you to build yourself up by saying nice things to yourself.

I have a poster hanging from my bullentin board at work that says.."101 Ways to Praise a Child." However, I use this sheet to praise my clients, my friends, my husband, my family, and I practice this on myself.

Below you'll find a list of praises. I encourage you to use them today, tomorrow, and for the rest of your life.

These praises are brought to you by... "The Charter Terre Haute Behavioral Health System."

    Wow!

    Great job!

    You're special!

    I trust you!

    Awesome!

    I love you!

    I'm proud of you!

    Remarkable!

I knew you could do it!

    You're incredible!

    You're precious!

    You made my day!

    You're beautiful!

    You're a winner!

    You're on your way!

Why not speak to yourself like a loving friend, parent, or significant other would speak to you. Practice this throughout the day. You'll see a huge difference in your mind, soul, and self-worth!

Go out there and start being your own best friend! Give yourself encouragement instead of criticism!

All the best!

Questions/Answers

If you have any questions about your relationships, self-esteem, career choices, mental health, and whatever else, please feel free to ask for some advice. I will provide free therapeutic advice for those in need. After you have posted your question, I will add the question and response to the next newsletter. So, if you are ready to post your question, click here for your answer.

Please read the privacy policy for any reassurance you may need for confidentiality.

Freebies

If you would like to learn more about a career that suits you the best, I would recommend taking the Free Map Assessment! (If you cannot click on the link, copy and paste this code http://www.Assessment.com/MAPPMembers/Welcome.asp?Accnum=06-6645-000.00 into your web browser.)

Here is what I have gained from this Free Map Assessment! The pros and cons...

Cons

It's lengthy! The test takes about 20 minutes to 30 minutes to complete. It's an 8 page assessment with 71 questions.

It's not the full assessment. You only get a sample of the test, which means you will have to pay 19.95 for the full test results.

Pros

You get a detailed description of your strengths (or what you are good at) in each of these areas....

  • Interest in job tasks

  • Temperament for job

  • Attitude for your job

  • How you relate to people

  • How you relate to things

  • How you relate to data

  • How you relate to reasoning

  • How you relate to applied mathematical capacity

  • How you relate to the usage of language

  • Your Top Career Areas

It's quite interesting to see what the assessment measures. I personally felt that the test matched my strengths and qualities very well. I got the impression that my right career choice is "Counseling!" (Imagine that huh ;)

If you are genuinely interested in learning more about what career fits you the best, this test offers 5 FREE Job Match searches for your needs. What that means is, you will have the opportunity to search for jobs that match your education, salary preferences, daily tasks, and how your job interest may look in the future.

I have not purchased an assessment at this time, so I cannot guarantee the accurateness of the full test. However, I was pleased with the descriptive results of the sample.

If you are on a search of discovering your best career, this assessment may be a great guide to help you along the way.

Recommended Resources

Side Note: I am in the process of writing two e-books that I plan to share with Relationship-with-Self "newsletter" viewers first before any other viewers. One e-book is about everything you will ever need to know about effective communication (i.e. how to get your needs and wants met in all of your relationships) and the other is about tips for moving forward from your bad childhood! I will keep you posted and give you "V.I.P" access to each book.

Recommended Resources:

I have recently been informed about an award winning book called Color Me Butterfly by L.Y.Marlow. Since being informed about this wonderful book, I have had the pleasure of reading to my heart's content. I have to say that I have had a difficult time putting this book down!

Color Me Butterfly is a true story about four generations of women who have endured domestic violence. The story is written as if you were living their life with them.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is in a domestic violence relationship, who is a family member or friend of someone enduring domestic violence, and for anyone who needs a better understanding as to why women choose to stay with abusive men.

I plan to chat more about this book once I have read through it all. Get yourself a copy and we can chat about it together. If you're interested in starting a group discussion, write to me with your questions or comments.
